Manchester Academic Charter School believes that science is an integral part of our lives. The school strives to have all students learn an appreciation of science. We use a design-based approach where our students utilize the engineering design process to learn science. They are given a problem and have to devise ways to solve it while building an understanding of the science concepts behind it. The students engage in brainstorming and creating prototypes to create a viable solution to their design-problem. The students also learn 21st Century skills as they work in groups to complete their project. Some examples of projects are Urban Heat Islands, Aquaponics, Embryology, Simple Machines and the Human Body.
