Yesterday, MACS learned that the Northside Community Food Pantry was in need of nonperishable food items. Ms. V, 4th grade Teacher’s Assistant made sure that we participated in this community wide initiative.
“After watching the news and hearing about the urgency, I knew this would be great opportunity for MACS to come together and give back,” said Ms. V.
Faculty and staff came together to make sure this was a success, by gathering empty boxes and making sure the items made it to our local food pantry.
According to the Northside Community Food Pantry’s website, “The pantry serves about 1,800 households annually; some, such as seniors on fixed incomes, rely on the pantry throughout the year. Others count on it to just get through a month or two during hard times.”
Students were encouraged to bring food items to donate in exchange for a dress down day. The turnout was amazing and we are hopeful that students realize this is the season for giving; not just receiving gifts.
MACS students were excited to donate their items this morning, as Ms. Stout collected and sorted through them. As parents dropped their students off, they came in to help bring in donations as well. This was memorable moment for students and their generosity was appreciated.
“When our parents and students are needed to step up in a time of need, they always do,” said Mr. Scoumis.
Special thank you to all who helped with this community wide initiative to give back to our neighbors!
