Clear Backpack Policy

MANCHESTER ACADEMIC CHARTER SCHOOL CLEAR BACKPACK POLICY

All students must use a clear backpack by Monday, September 29, 2025.

Last year, we started daily security checks with bag searches and metal detectors. To make this process smoother, we’re adding a clear backpack policy.

MACS will give each student a clear backpack at the start of the 2025-2026 school year. They should get them the first week of school. Once they have them, students should start using the clear backpacks right away to help speed up security checks.

Our goal is keeping students safe. This clear backpack policy helps stop banned items from entering our buildings. We know you may have questions. Please contact us so we can address your concerns and support families for a successful school year.

A FEW COMMON FAQ'S:

A clear backpack is completely clear on all sides except bottoms. Straps can be colored.

Q: What if my school backpack breaks or is lost?

A: Buy clear backpacks at Walmart, Target, or Amazon. MACS may have some for purchase with MACS Bucks.

Q: Do all bags need to be clear?

A: No. Students can carry two small non-clear items (6″ x 9″ x 5″ max): lunch bags, small purses, or pencil pouches. Athletic bags, medical bags, and instrument cases are allowed but will be screened.

Q: Are mesh or colored clear backpacks allowed?

A: No, only fully clear backpacks work.

Q: Are lunch boxes and clear bags allowed?

A: Yes, lunch boxes don’t need to be clear. Clear totes, purses, and plastic bags are allowed.
